No Letter or Number Grades: Standards-Based Assessment in Practice

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Discovery Elementary School utilizes research-based standards-based instruction and assessment practices, and has eliminated both traditional letter grades and numerical grades for both assignments and grade reporting. Instead, it utilizes a state-of-the-art standards-based approach that has proved successful across all grade levels. Elementary school standards-based implementation is challenging, but worth it, and in this session, stakeholders will learn what Discovery is doing, what it has learned, and how you can replicate such success at any scale, from single-classroom pilot to district-wide implementations. Move away from industrial-era teacher-centered schooling, and join the standards-based movement!
