Colossal Coding Collaboration Adventures Across the Sixth Grade Curriculum.

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Two Technology Resource teachers team with a grade level chair to provide daily opportunities for all 6th grade students in our school to code. With no set computer science curriculum in our elementary school, we wanted our students to receive the benefits of coding on a regular basis while integrating math and science SOLs. Coding helps to enable logical thinking and focus on problem-solving within a collaborative work environment. What a perfect blend for future success in secondary school and in the future workplace!

Come explore with us as we develop and implement our plan. Students use iPads, Thinkpads, desktops and robots to accomplish tasks using resources from Code.org, Sphero.edu, Scratch, and Kodable. The overall structure of the coding activities are managed in GoogleClassroom within a Math/Science classroom.

This session is open to all. Though the focus of the lessons are on math and science, it would be applicable to any subject area.
