Empowerment Through Advocacy: It Starts With You

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

You can make a difference in the life of a child. Isn’t that why you became an educator?
Raise your voice and Empower yourself and your students! What could be more empowering to young learners than to have their teacher take them to show and tell? Your student stories can reach far beyond the classroom to homes, neighborhoods and the surrounding community. Educating local, regional, state and federal decisions makers empowers educators and students through amplifying their voice. Join us for a few stories about journeys from the classroom to Capitol Hill.
We have told our stories across social media as well as by word of mouth to advocate for students, teachers, and administrators. Parents and community members have joined in to #SpeakUp4Schools and #act4edtech. We face trying times as educators and need to advocate for our children and our schools. Certainly we know the need to contact legislators to support funding but what about our neighbors and friends who can help provide a stronger voice both at home and on the hill? Bring the respect back to education by showing others the value yesterday, today and tomorrow.
