“Digital Engagement”: Cultivating Meaningful Ways for Students to Employ Social Media as a Tool for Self-Empowerment

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In this session, we will explore the ever-changing landscape of information sharing. Specifically, we will discuss the benefits of helping students see the power of social media as a tool for self-empowerment and learning. We will discuss the term Personal Learning Network (PLN) and how students can begin cultivating their own. We will share programming we have developed this year for our Upper School Advisory Programming centered on our theme of “Digital Engagement” as well as future initiatives. Additionally, we will present various examples of students’ efforts in using social media platforms in meaningful, productive ways and allow time for break out brainstorming sessions on how attendees’ schools can encourage this manner of social media use.
