Coding is a great skill to learn, but we must keep in mind that coding languages and syntax change over time. If we think of coding as a vehicle for learning logic, design, and iterative thinking, we can be much more flexible in how we reach learners who might not think coding is for them. This applies to all learners, both adults and children. Using tools already at our disposal, we can tap into learners’ talents and personal interests to achieve the same goals. Creating animations in presentation software, compositions in music editing software, and ediging videos can lead to learning the same thinking structures and skills required by coders.
