Virtual Reality (Google Cardboard, Gear VR, and Oculus Rift) in the Classroom!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Google Cardboard is the dominant virtual reality tool in the classroom. The viewers are inexpensive and students can get a 3D experience with head tracking. But more students have Samsung phones that can run Gear VR, and the price of Oculus Rift has dropped recently. I will be running a HANDS ON session where participants can try Gear VR and the Oculus rift in this session. We will discuss basic topics such as are there educationally appropriate programs for Gear VR and rift? What computers are needed to run rift? What are the advantages to using different VR programs? One of the biggest surprises is how easy it is for students to create programs for rift using Unity3D. Creating software for Virtual Reality is an excellent way to SuperEmpower students for learning.
