In 2018 the E-Rate Program will continue to evolve under the Modernization Order for the E-rate Program for Schools and Libraries. The Modernization Report outlined major changes in the E-rate program that are impacting your schools fiscal and technology planning for the future. In wake of these changes in the E-rate program you need to continue to adjust and act in a way to minimize the loss of funding in some categories as well as looking at ways to maximize funding in others. On December 11, 2014 the FCC approve the Second E-Rate Modernization Order that focused on additional flexibility for Schools and Libraries to find options for purchasing broadband services to meet the demand for their Internet capacity needs. On September 11, 2015 the Eligible Services List for 2016 was released that further clarified changes in Category 1 & 2 funding for the new round of E-Rate funding and there will be further changes in the Eligible Services List for 2018. This session will review the latest changes to the Modernization Order for 2018-19, changes in the Eligible Services list, the effect of raising the spending cap to over $4 Billion per year on your planning, look at ways to plan and optimize E-rate funding for your schools, examine the results of Broadband Projects and look at ways E-Rate can help your schools in the future.
